The mission
And that was the target of our customer: within one week - from Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 12 - numerous small and large crane parts had to be moved from Copenhagen in Denmark to Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia.
This included, for example, 2 crane bridges with a weight of 40 tons each and a length of 28 m, as well as 1 trolley weighing about 25 tons and measuring 13 m x 4.2 m x 3 m.
For this purpose, a 250-ton crane for loading the parts and 5 fitters were initially scheduled for these 5 days.
The flexible handling
On Monday morning, our team started. At intervals of 1 hour, all 32 trucks - 12 special transports and 20 standard trucks - were loaded. The delivery of the crane parts in Essen took place from Tuesday to Friday.
On Wednesday, the loading process could already be completed. Consequently, our client did not have to pay the expensive holiday surcharges for the fitters - Corpus Christi is a holiday in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Even the costly crane was no longer needed. Thus, in total, about 12,000 EUR of fitter and crane costs could be saved.
