Requirements in logistics are constantly changing. To remain reliable, flexible and efficient in the future, we are continuing to modernise our vehicle fleet step by step. One particularly visible sign of this is our new vehicle combination with a Mercedes-Benz Actros L tractor unit.
The Actros L stands for modern vehicle technology, high driver comfort and transport operations designed for efficiency. For our team, this means a contemporary workplace in the cab, reliable technology in day-to-day work and a strong basis for precisely planned transports.
At the same time, a new vehicle is more than just a rational investment for us. Anyone who works with transport technology every day knows how much care, experience and enthusiasm goes into a well-matched combination. This is exactly the blend of practicality and passion we want to show with the new photographs.
A modern fleet is particularly important when requirements change regularly. Vehicles need to be economical, safe and versatile - from standard transport to special tasks involving machinery, coils and industrial components.
The tractor unit is complemented by a modern curtainsider semi-trailer suitable for a wide range of transport tasks. The combination fits our ambition to offer customers the right solutions from a single source: carefully dispatched, technically well prepared and reliably carried out.

5-axis mega-liner with up to 30 tons payload
6-axis combination with up to 45 tons payload
8-axis combination with up to 60 tons payload
At the turn of the year, we prepare for a new business year. In addition to the annual financial statements, we take care of issues that also occupy us throughout the year - for example, maintenance work in our warehouses or the maintenance and renewal of our extensive vehicle fleet. Especially in today's world, long-term planning is necessary, but challenging due to rapidly changing market conditions.
Today we would like to present you 3 different vehicle combinations as examples, which we use flexibly for your requirements.
We use our 5-axis mega-liner primarily for coil, machine, tool, volume and container transport. Its payload is up to 30 tons. It can be extended to 3.5 m width under a tarpaulin.
Our 6-axis combination is particularly suitable for transporting coils, machines and tools, and its payload is max. 45 tons. It can be extended to 4 m in width under a tarpaulin.
With our 8-axis combination, coils, machines and tools in particular are also transported. With a payload of up to 60 tons, it is one of our most powerful vehicle combinations. And with a width of 4 m, it also pushes the limits of what is possible under a tarpaulin.

Our halls are heatable and capable of carrying 130-ton unit weights. The lifting power of our warehouse cranes varies from 10 tons up to 125 tons. The hook height is up to 10 m, the hall height reaches 14 m. The gates are 6 m wide and 5 m high. Of course, we provide office and recreation rooms including fax and phone connections, rest rooms and a large open depot.
A renowned packaging company has supported us for many years. Thereby we are able to offer the short-term takeover of your unpacked machines and facilities, transportation to our warehouses and subsequent packaging by our well-trained professionals. Sometimes things turn out differently from what you think: a 50-ton box measuring 15 m x 3.5 m x 4.2 m was originally intended to be shipped overseas from Hamburg harbor. The deal fell through at short notice, and the customer urgently needed a suitable storage location for this heavy box.
We unloaded the box at short notice in one of our warehouses using a 200-ton crane and stowed it away safely. Customer happy - so are we.

Jürgen Geppert honored for 30 years of service
In our company, founded in 1933, Anton Wiedemeyer transported coal and potatoes with only one team of horses and drove at weddings and funerals.
In more than 85 years, this 1-man company has become an international logistics company. We have continued to develop our services through innovative ideas and dedication to provide top quality services to our customers at all times. And our esteemed customers reward our commitment with years of loyalty, for which we are very grateful. It shows us that we have the right standards.

Taking leave of Helene Wiedemeyer
More than 25 years of service to the company
Requiem and mourning ceremony in Wetter
On March 29, 2017, our senior manager Helene Wiedemeyer died at the age of 90. As a former owner and managing director, Helene Wiedemeyer shaped our company for many years with her personality and led us with untiring commitment. She was our good soul, always friendly and respectful.
In an incomparable way, my mother guided our company and contributed decisively to its success. We are very grateful for the time we were able to spend with her. We will keep her memory in honor.
In deep sadness, I take leave of my grandmother and a personality that has characterized our company. She always had an open ear, stood by with advice and deed, and led our company courageously and with a lot of effort through difficult times.
Until her retirement, Helene Wiedemeyer worked for our company for more than 25 years.
The requiem took place on April 10, 2017 at 11.00 am in the Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul, Am Kirchberg 8, 58300 Wetter (Ruhr).
The mourning ceremony with the burial of the urn followed at 12.00 pm in the devotional hall at the cemetery, Gartenstraße 40.

The Allgemeinen Deutschen Spediteurbedingungen 2017 (General German Freight Forwarders' Terms and Conditions, ADSp 2017) are a joint recommendation by the associations of the shipping industry and the freight forwarding sector. Since 1927, they have continued the tradition of providing the companies involved in industry, trade, freight forwarding and transport with a ready-made contractual framework for handling all types of forwarding business. More than earlier versions, the new ADSp 2017 use balanced clauses to create a fair balance of interests between the contracting partners.
In addition, the ADSp 2017 are recommended for non-binding application not only by the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA), the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the German Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association (DSLV) and the German Retail Federation (HDE), but for the first time also by the Federal Association of Road Haulage, Logistics and Disposal (BGL), the Federal Association of Furniture Forwarding and Logistics (AMÖ) and the Federal Association for Business, Transport and Logistics (BWVL).
Forwarding business is regularly carried out on the basis of these tried-and-tested conditions. The market acceptance of the ADSp is very high. More than 90 percent of German freight forwarders work on the basis of this set of clauses, which contains contractual terms tailored to forwarding activities. This gives companies in the shipping industry the advantage of encountering uniform business conditions, even when they work with different forwarding partners.
For this reason, it was especially important to us to train our commercial staff comprehensively on the changes introduced by the ADSp 2017, which have been in force since the beginning of the year. Alongside a great deal of specialist knowledge, the friendly cooperation during the breaks, including a delicious snack, also played an important role.

We made possible what no one else could manage.

Well, the transport itself was really nothing special: some coils had to be moved from Neuwied, northwest of Koblenz, to Paderborn.
The challenge: the customer placed the request on Friday noon and wanted the delivery to arrive at its destination by the morning of the following day.
Many carriers had already been asked by the customer. But no one was able to support at such short notice.
No one? Not quite. A logistics company from Wetter showed initiative and made the seemingly impossible possible: a truck in Kassel with 2 drivers left around noon for Neuwied and loaded the cargo at about 5 p.m.
About one hour later, the transport was heading out to Paderborn. Shortly before midnight, the cargo arrived at its destination.
Finally, around 2:30 a.m., the drivers found their well-deserved rest, with the good feeling of having made another customer very happy.

Four drivers voluntarily interrupted their Christmas holidays
At the end of the winter season, we look back once more at an interesting job we carried out between the holidays in late December 2015.
On Monday, December 28, 2015, the emergency call of a new customer reached us at 3 p.m.: 5 machines measuring 3000 mm x 2300 mm x 3150 mm and weighing 3 tons each had to be moved immediately under tarpaulin from Koblenz to Warsaw. A distance of about 1200 km.
The previously commissioned carrier had only provided 2 open trucks. What now?
Our phones were running hot. Many of our employees were enjoying their well-earned Christmas holidays.
By 4 p.m., 4 drivers had been found who willingly interrupted their holidays, so that two transports with 2 drivers each could be planned. At 5 p.m., we received the customer's written order.
On the same day, the machines could be loaded at about 11 p.m. and unloaded the following day. By Wednesday, December 30, 2015, our drivers were back home again and were able to celebrate the New Year with their families.

But as part of our commitment to our hometown, we support FC Wetter 10/30 e.V. with heart and soul. On Whit Monday, the club secured promotion to the state league ahead of schedule and for the first time in its history.

Despite unexpected challenges, we were able to meet our schedule.
Four 40-ton presses were dismantled in the Sauerland, moved to Witten and temporarily stored there.

At short notice we were asked to dismantle 4 presses with a weight of 40 tons at the company DURA in the Sauerland and subsequently store them temporarily in our warehouse in Witten.
In the early evening of April 8, we reached the destination. In the rear part of a factory building we found the 4 presses. Get to work. Shortly before midnight, the first presses were dismantled and turned over. The loading and the removal should be carried out the next morning.
The night's rest was of short duration. Already around 6:00 clock, we continued the dismantling. The lift crane for the loading of the presses before the factory hall was already in place and in position. Until the early evening all presses should be dismantled, turned over, moved through the production halls and loaded on low loaders.
In the following night, the heavy loads were transported safely and without incident to the warehouse in Witten.
In the morning the presses could be safely stored at the new location.

The challenge was obtaining a transport approval.
Two heavy machines and additional parts were transported from Lovosice to Karlsruhe after detailed approval planning.

Two machines with dimensions of 8.2m x 6.3m x 3m (length x width x height) and 6m x 3.7m x 2m and a weight of 95 tons and 58 tons should be moved from Lovosice in the Czech Republic to Karlsruhe along with other various parts (15m length, 4m width, 25-30 tons).
Although it was not a really handy freight, the biggest challenge was to obtain appropriate approvals for the transport of the 95 to machine. For obtaining the approval for the trip through Germany one of our responsible dispatchers spent about 200 hours of work and a total of 8 weeks. The request was initially rejected 3 times by various authorities for the reason that there was no appropriate route for a shipment with a total length of 35m, a width of 6.3m and a total weight of about 150 tons (truck plus loading). But the dismantling of the 95 to machine would have been tantamount to a heart surgery. An assembly in Karlsruhe would not have been possible. In the end, the tenacity of our dispatcher paid off and a route could be found.
In the Czech Republic many detours had to be taken. The bypass on ordinary road due to insufficient carrying capacity of many bridges belonged to the standard program. Also in Germany the maximum load of bridges was limited to 100 tons - the ride along country roads and through small villages became necessary. Partially, we could only move at walking speed. No-stopping signs had to be set up at different places two days before, so that no parking cars should block the way. Traffic lights and other traffic signs have been removed or rotated. Without damage we arrived after 3 days at the customer in Karlsruhe. Two large 250 tons cranes were waiting, which unloaded the 95 to machine. Just two days earlier, the 58 tons machine had arrived at the customer. Within a week, the machines could be reassembled by an assembly crew and put into operation shortly.

Because the furnace could not be lifted out of the hall from outside with a suitable crane, the elements had to be moved out of the hall one by one with a mobile crane.
To make optimum use of the space on our trucks, we suitably loaded individual parts such as pipe sections, cable duct covers and steel supports.

...intend to protect the health of drivers and road safety. The increasing volume of traffic on the roads causes an ever-increasing burden on the mobile workplace motor vehicle for drivers who carry out passenger or freight transport. Tired drivers endanger themselves and others.
The European Regulation, the European Agreement Concerning the Work of Crews of Vehicles Engaged in International Road Transport (AETR), and the national standards on social provisions in road traffic restrict the maximum driving times and dictate breaks of journey as well as sufficient rest periods for drivers executing passenger and cargo transportations.
The regulations also apply to certain non-commercial freight transports. The requirements apply regardless of whether the drivers are working independently or as employees. They must be complied with and respected both by the drivers as well as by entrepreneurs and dispatchers when planning trips.
Only this way can the objective pursued by all European states be achieved: to increase road safety, improve safety at work and avoid distortions of competition. Breaches of these rules are therefore penalized throughout Europe with heavy fines.
Analog was yesterday, digital technology is today. This also applies to the monitoring of driving and rest periods in European road traffic.
Since May 2006 in Germany, newly licensed commercial vehicles with more than 3.5 tons of total weight and all buses with more than 9 seats must be equipped with a digital tachograph. As this digital monitoring unit is mandatory only in newly licensed vehicles and as there is no obligation to upgrade older vehicles, the introduction will take many years.
Therefore, this subject stays on the agenda for all involved parties - enterprisers, drivers, repair shops, authorities and manufacturers. Transportation and logistics companies must deal with this change.
Which responsibilities and which competencies do fleet managers, drivers, service companies and regulatory authorities have? From the speed-time chart to the printout: who can analyse what, how and for which time period? Which technical and legal fundamentals have to be respected?
20 participants were initially registered for the advanced training; finally 22 appeared: many drivers, dispatchers, trainees and warehouse employees did not want to miss this chance.
At the end of the course everybody received a certificate that can be used to renew the driver's licence from 2014 on. From this year, all drivers have to show 5 certificates to continue using the driver's licence commercially.

Almost every time you drive on the highway, you pass them: massive concrete parts that separate the lanes from each other and greatly increase safety on Germany's highways.
900 of these parts, with a total weight of about 1,700 tons, had to be transported at short notice from Thursday, April 8, to the following Wednesday, April 14.
As the regular carrier of our new customer was not able to handle this order on time, we were brought on board. This happened in a situation where hardly any trucks were available on the transport market.
The customer was thrilled.

To lift the containers measuring 10 m x 3 m x 3.10 m from the street to the 3rd level and place them on the roof, we had to use a special 250 tons crane with the corresponding reach.
However, that was not the actual challenge: the carrying capacity of the roof was limited to 500 kg per square meter.
It was therefore necessary to distribute the point loads of the containers using an elaborate wooden floor and long steel beams so that the containers could be moved across approximately 60 m on the roof.

This was carried out partly at a height of 50 m.
Among other equipment, a 1000 tons crane with a hook height of approximately 70 m was used.

And that was the target of our customer: within one week - from Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 12 - numerous small and large crane parts had to be moved from Copenhagen in Denmark to Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia.
This included, for example, 2 crane bridges with a weight of 40 tons each and a length of 28 m, as well as 1 trolley weighing about 25 tons and measuring 13 m x 4.2 m x 3 m.
For this purpose, a 250-ton crane for loading the parts and 5 fitters were initially scheduled for these 5 days.
On Monday morning, our team started. At intervals of 1 hour, all 32 trucks - 12 special transports and 20 standard trucks - were loaded. The delivery of the crane parts in Essen took place from Tuesday to Friday.
On Wednesday, the loading process could already be completed. Consequently, our client did not have to pay the expensive holiday surcharges for the fitters - Corpus Christi is a holiday in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Even the costly crane was no longer needed. Thus, in total, about 12,000 EUR of fitter and crane costs could be saved.
